CHANGE

Shift from medicine to politics. It’s a drama series of Kimutaku-san that I originally at first have no intention of watching. I thought the concept was the same to that of The Grand Tribe which disappointed me because Kimutaku-san died during the last episode hahah!

I have no desire of watching any movies related to politics. I dont like politics! Politics is dirty! But according to dramwiki, CHANGE got a high rating which awakens my curiosity for this drama.

CHANGE is about Asakura Keita, a 35-year old grade 5 teacher who has a family background of politicians. He has no desire and hopes about politics. Hence, he ran away from home and became a grade school teacher. Unfortunately, his father and brother died from a freak accident. Because of this, he was asked to run as a politician in a parliament just like his “oyaji”. Of course he refused at first but then finally decided to run in order to save his mother from running for candidacy. He won and people labeled him as a Parliament Prince because of his innocence and looks. But, a problem which lies ahead awaits him after the Prime Minister’s reign ended because of sexual harassment. Kanbayashi-sensei, an old man who was in politics for so long dreamed of being a Prime Minister. He was the one who asked Asakura Keita to follow the footsteps of his deceased dad. But behind his “good” front acts, is an evil plan. Kanbayashi’s dream of being a Prime Minister was too far to grasp due to unpopularity of Seiyu political party. But right after Asakura Keita won, their party (Seiyu) climbs to the top chart! (All thanks to Asakura >_<) Then, Kanbayashi forced Asakura to run for Prime Minister of Japan with an evil intention of course. Eventually, the prince won and became the Prime Minister. And so the story continues…

Since election is 2 months away. I still haven’t decided who I am going to vote. After watching this drama, I became so idealistic that I wanted the future leader of the Philippines to be like Asakura Keita, who has no background of politics but worked so hard to protect the citizens. The bureaucrats thought that Asakura is a puppet whom they can easily fool and control. But the outcome was unexpected. He sticks to his promise and tried his best to work hard and not to disappoint the people.

I know that the drama is fiction but I am still hoping that someone out there is fit to rule. Someone must not become a politician just because of power. But someone who really listens to the valid wishes of the people and do something about it. Someone who will not be greedy. Someone who is not arrogant. Someone who will not be tainted with malice. Someone who can really understand the people. Someone who doesn’t sleep calmly in spite of all the mishaps of our country hahaha! Impossible right? Nobody is perfect. In our generation, I know that nobody sacrifices his own self just for the people. That is sad but it’s true. But here’s what I think, a person can change. He/she can change for his/her people as long as he wanted to. Be brave enough to change. Not change halfway, but change all the way.
